Rm 6:12-23 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that all of you should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield all of you your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. For sin shall not have dominion over you: for all of you are not under the law, but under grace. What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. Know all of you not, that to whom all of you yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants all of you are to whom all of you obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? But God be thanked, that all of you were the servants of sin, but all of you have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. Being then made free from sin, all of you became the servants of righteousness. I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as all of you have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness. For when all of you were the servants of sin, all of you were free from righteousness. What fruit had all of you then in those things whereof all of you are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death. But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, all of you have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. The focus is on the last verse, Rm 6:23, but the last twelve verses are listed for examination. Some says that only unbeliever will see death. WRONG!!! In verses 12-15, Apostle Paul asked the readers whether they should continue to sin and abuse the grace of God. Then in verses 16-22, he wrote them they have the power to be free from sin by being servants of righteousness. Finally, he exhorted Christians at the Roman church not to sin. He said if you persist in sinning, you will see death. This letter was written for Christians, especially Roman Christians, not unbelievers. If the Calvinist interpretation is true, that is all Christians see eternal life, then the questions, in verses 12-15, about continuing to sin, would make no sense. If Christians are going to see eternal life, why bother to ask about sinning? Christians need to walk with the fear of the Lord and TRY not to sin, otherwise they will see death. Jas 1:13-15 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempts he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust has conceived, it brings forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, brings forth death. What apostle Paul wrote consistent with what apostle James wrote. If a Christian consistently falls in temptations and sins, that person will see death. It is "Once Saved" + "Commitment to Jesus" = "Always Saved" where "Commitment to Jesus" means - having an active faith, - living a life of repentance, and - obeying the Lord. Christians should strive to live without sins and repent when they do sin because the "wages of sins is death". ********** All scriptures are from the Updated King James Version bible which can found at http://www.geocities.com/updatedkjv/ .
