The question is are carnal Christians saved or not? The problem here is that I can not answer because the Lord is always extending his grace. Each person is a separate case. From "Believe" [believe.txt], we understand the word, believe, is from the Greek word, pisteou. Pisteou also means commit and trust. In "Believe" [believe.txt], we consider a case where a person radically commit to Jesus for a few years, and then, becomes a pew warmer and uncommitted for twenty years (long time). This person satisfies the definition of pisteou during the first few years. At the end this person does NOT satisfies the definition of pisteou. In other words, this person was saved, and then, not saved. The use of pisteou shows that it is possible for someone to lose salvation. The question is when did this person loses salvation? The Holy Spirit will bring forth convictions when a person is doing something wrong (e.g., being uncommitted). The Lord is forbearing and desires repentance. When a person persistantly rejects these convictions, the Holy Spirit grieves and that person loses salvation. The problem is how long this takes? By twenty years, a long time, one would think the Holy Spirit has gone thru this process. During the first few years of uncommitment, I do not know. Each person is unique. The Lord is convicting and sharing His grace. All I can say, that person is a hot seat with God and is in danger of losing (or already did lose) salvation. It is "Once Saved" + "Commitment to Jesus" = "Always Saved" where "Commitment to Jesus" is - having an active faith, - living a life of repentance, and - obeying the Lord. It is better to make an ongoing "Commitment to Jesus" and ensure salvation. It is where you are RIGHT NOW, not what you did in the past. ********** © Copyright 2018
