2 Tim 4:7-8 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. The focus is the expression "there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness". Some says this promise is for all Christians. WRONG!!! The reason why apostle Paul is expecting the crown of righteousness is because he fought a good fight and kept the faith. He did not fiddle his thumbs and do nothing. He probably fought with unbelief and other sins. A Christian, who does not fight and falls into unbelief, is NOT promised a crown of righteousness. 2 Phil 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as all of you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. When apostle Paul wrote "work out your own salvation with fear and trembling", he meant Christians are to TRY to live correct. A passive believer is in danger of letting sins rule oneself and losing salvation. It is "Once Saved" + "Commitment to Jesus" = "Always Saved" where "Commitment to Jesus" means - having an active faith, - living a life of repentance, and - obeying the Lord. A person, who is "Committed to Jesus", will shun sins and NOT be an evildoer. Hence, these verses (i.e., Heb 10:4-5) will apply to that person. It is important the Christians live actively and TRY to be "committed for Jesus". ********** All scriptures are from the Updated King James Version bible which can found at http://www.geocities.com/updatedkjv/ .
